Walking across India

In 2023, I embarked on a transformative journey across India, walking 1,811 kilometers from Dharamsala to Mumbai. Over three months, from August 20 to November 22, I traversed diverse landscapes and encountered the remarkable generosity and kindness of the Indian people. Along the way, strangers welcomed me with open hearts, offering food, drinks, and shelter. I slept in temples, rural villages, restaurants, roadside sheds, dormitories, gas stations, family homes, and other makeshift accommodations, each encounter enriching my experience in unexpected ways.

This pilgrimage had two primary aims: one spiritual and the other artistic.

On a spiritual level, I sought to immerse myself in the profound diversity of India’s landscapes, cultures, and traditions. From sacred sites to simple village rituals, every step deepened my understanding of the rich tapestry of life in India. The connections I formed with people along the way were often as inspiring as the journey itself.

Creatively, I approached the pilgrimage as a visual and literary exploration. Through photography, I captured fleeting moments of beauty and significance, while my reflections and stories were carefully recorded with the intention of weaving them into a book I am currently writing. My goal is to convey the essence of this journey in a way that resonates with others, celebrating the resilience, connection, and wonder I discovered.

This journey is only the beginning. I plan to continue my pilgrimage from Mumbai to Kanyakumari, India’s southernmost tip, covering an additional 2,000 kilometers on foot. Dates for the next leg of this adventure are yet to be determined, but my resolve remains unwavering: to complete this journey and share it with the world.
